Hopefully the Shoutout box remains as people can decide if they want to talk on Discord or the shoutout itself. Knowing that the chat can get very laggy. Some people doesn't want to use Discord at all. It's not a bad idea to bring the Discord Offical OBSRV Server to help out those who seek to voice and help out new players alot easier.

The shoutbox will be removed.

I can not even use Discord. I am using VPN and it is asking for phone numbers for authentication.

I'm going to be honest, I do like the idea of an open protocol like IRC better. Especially one where users logged in here can start chatting instantly under their own username. With IRC, you get the benefit of instant communications with a light protocol on literally any platform that can run it, and there are even some nice phone clients as well.

Hell a Sega Saturn can connect to an IRC server with the NetLink modem.

If you're able to implement it, then I'll be all for it.

I'm thinking a nice implementation could look like the old shoutbox but simply connect to an IRC server on our side. Users looking to connect from an external client would use their obsrv credentials.
