Chatting on IRC server

We have an IRC now:

server: obsrv.org
port: 6667
password: outbreakrulez
channel: #obsrv

For the moment there is only one channel. You can use whatever client you want, but some web-to-irc services don't work. The password is only used to get rid of spambots.

Wouldn't IRC be the same problem as the steam group, as in it will reduce forum contributions ?

I don't know. At least it will ease coordination of the testers. And in opposite to the steam group you'll have a chance to talk to me ;)

To the Silent Hell, from the previous thread:

In steam, you can create your own chat rooms in a few clicks.

Got into the irc channel. Looks pretty dead in there. I'm the only one in the chat room.

If that's the case then.... Might as well use Mumble.. I don't want to download another program. I use mumble and it's great..

It seems when I connect with one nickname, then the next time i connect again, it then says that same nickname is already in use.

*nvm, figured out issue with jake's help. Character limit is just 9. First irc server i've seen where character limit was just 9.
